About

Hello! I’m Vikki. An art director, graphic designer, actor and writer working in Los Angeles. I love advertising, graphic design, branding, typography, prop design for movies and TV, and social media content.

I love to work, so hit me up.

If you want to know who I am this mega cluster gif will tell you more about me than I could ever put into words. It’s a big ol’ Vikki scramble that will give you a glimpse into my personality.

Education

I completed my Bachelor of Design, with honors, from Duncan of Jordonstone College of Art and Design, which is part of the University of Dundee in Scotland. Not long after finishing and leaving art school, I went back for some more. I left Dundee again with a Master’s of Design degree.

And to top it all off, I also received a benchmark and membership into the exclusive International Society of Typogaphic Designers.

Experience

Twenty years ago I started getting paid to do what I love. My professional design story starts in Glasgow, in a design and branding agency called Good—and man, were they good. We quickly became the third best agency for design-effectiveness in the United Kingdom. I worked there full-time for a bit, then freelance for a little bit more (you know, 2008 and the recession happened).

Freelancing was fun, but I had some spare hours lying around so I subbed my time by working as a visual merchandiser for Apple. Exploring different avenues of creativity and discipline was a very valuable and awakening experience.

I ended up in Sacramento, where I worked freelance until I became a full-time employee for Runyon Saltzman, the largest Advertising and Public Relations agency in the Sacramento region. It was fun, I worked hard—so hard like you wouldn’t believe. I loved every second of it, and it was hard to notice the time passing, five years slipped by.

Then I moved to Los Angeles, I continued to work for Runyon, Saltzman until all of my projects were tied up in a neat little bow. Worked for a stint at PMK•BNC (McCan), Battery, and One-Eighteen Advertising before settling with Armed Mind, where we’ve worked our socks off and won crazy prestigious awards.

Skills and Responsibilities

I have all the skills. You wouldn’t even believe my skills. Creative Cloud is my life, photo retouching and composting is something I’ve become proficient in, (especially when a client asks for an entire person to be lowered in an image), I have conceptualized and created several commercials and campaigns, print ads, props, posters, web banners, web sites, social media posts/campaigns, pre-roll video, social media videos, postcards, stickers, pin badges, shoelaces… the list goes on.

I’m also an incredibly fast and precise production artist, I’ve laid out proposals, formatted word docs and designed hecka presentations. (All the skills.)

I also mentored and directed junior art directors, designers and production artists, to keep brands consistent and to enhance and develop ideas, designs, and concepts.

I’ve also turned creative writing into a hobby by writing a teen genre novel that will at least be a part of a trilogy–think Buffy The Vampire Slayer meets veronica mars while living in The OC.
